When are the birds most hungry?

Answer: Small garden birds are hungry all day long but limit their search for food to an absolute minimum.
For each second they are active or in the air they risk being eaten by a bird of prey or a predator.
In winter (November/March) and in the moulting season (August) they try to limit their heat loss to the cold surroundings by staying as inactive as possible.
This usually means two meals a day = breakfast and dinner.

In the breeding season (April/July) and in the preparation season (September/October), the birds spend the whole day searching for food and you will derive even more pleasure from watching them feed at your garden feeding station.
